The format war cost home entertainment in 2007
Within a three-month frame, shoppers had to choose between a collision of the biggest number of $300 million-plus theatricals to hit DVD yet—namely Spider-Man 3, Transformers, Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End—and hot game titles, such as Guitar Hero III. "We have never tried to sell that size and breadth of titles before," Sanders added. "I can tell you, we don’t look at a release slate for a film before looking at the games that are also coming out, and that is going to be even more the case in 2008." This year’s sequel-based films accounted for 25% of the available DVD product, said Ron Schwartz, Lionsgate executive VP and general manager, which compares to 18% of titles in 2006. "Sequels as a whole will under-index non-sequels" in DVD performance, said Schwartz.
Playing with fire
With every second family having at least one member who is physically disfigured, it is easy to mistake the villagers for mutilated victims of war, but the sole fight here is one for survival. The hamlets residents eat, sleep and go about their daily business surrounded by low-grade explosives, yet swear on the lives of their children that their products are perfectly safe and innocent forms of amusement. Disaster comes only from negligence, recklessness and occasionally bad luck, they say, claiming their biggest problem is that the outside world simply wont leave them in peace. Master firework-makers have called El-Nazla home for generations, but life as they knew it came crashing to an end in 1994. As the insurgency of the last century heated up, the Ministry of Interior issued a decree criminalizing the possession of 52 kinds of explosives, including the low-grade black gunpowder used to make firecrackers, sparklers and other fireworks.

It's getting down to the final days of the Texas primary campaign, and that means it's time for the campaigns to play the expectations game. First we have Barack Obama's folks, making a "lowered expectations" play, followed by a deft maneuver to set expectations for the other side. "In Ohio and Texas, the races are very, very close," Obama campaign strategist Steve Hildebrand said today. "We have had a consistent deficit in both states. She started almost 20 points ahead in both of these states. "We have narrowed that to within the margin of error. We are still behind but are hoping to win — but frankly we don't have the highest of expectations to win. These are difficult states." Then there's a quick shift from defense to offense by David Plouffe, Obama's national campaign manager, who wants reporters to focus on Obama's lead in pledged delegates from previous primaries.
15 things to do with leftover turkey
Taste the sauce. If it's too tart, add more broth.Remove from the heat, and whisk in the heavy cream and salt. Let cool slightly before making the enchiladas. 3. Fill a large skillet with enough oil to submerge a tortilla.Warm the oil over medium heat until a drop of water sizzles immediately. Fry each tortilla briefly in the oil, about 10 seconds per side. The tortilla should stay soft; if it starts to harden, it has been in the oil too long. Drain on paper towels. 4. Heat the oven to 400 degrees. With a pastry brush, spread a thin layer of sauce on both sides of each tortilla. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of shredded turkey in each tortilla, and roll loosely. 5. Set the enchiladas side-by-side in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish, pour the remaining sauce over them, top with cheeses and bake until bubbling, 15 to 20 minutes.

Truths R Us
Students must remain free to question generally accepted beliefs if they can do so, in the words of the 1915 Declaration of Principles on Academic Freedom and Academic Tenure, using "a scholar’s method and. . . in a scholar’s spirit." That comes in the midst of an argument that critics who complain about professors engaging in “indoctrination" are quite mistaken. The professors are engaged “in instruction, not indoctrination," and the AAUP asks us to think about the need for “professors of logic [to] insist that students accept the logical validity of the syllogism." An Army of Straw Men Of course, critics are not complaining when logic professors uphold the validity of the syllogism. They are complaining when professors use their classrooms gratuitously to pronounce political views.

Iron Mountain stand-off ends
Is it fair to judge people,to tell people like Mr.N. to grow up or put Christ in his life.Isn't that God's job to judge. Why don't we direct our thoughts and prayers to the young gentleman who got himself the this sad situation in the first place. To MR. North, I think your writing is brilliant, you should do it for a living! — ki petro, up north all said and done I think that the police did fine. They did what they had to and no one got hurt, but that also makes it seam like the lock down was unnecessary. Not only that but the school decided to give us all pizza. The distribution of which was as thus: most students got at least one. Some students had more, but doesn't it seem like a big expenditure that could be put to a better use. Not to mention that no one got hurt, yet all of the Iron Mountain High School students who had a first block vocational class were sent home (something we had all hoped for by the second hour in the same classroom).
Perfect partnership
She's a news junkie and loves pitching stories, talking to journalists and doing that side of the business. Prue is exceptionally good at strategy, ideas and writing, so we are a great match. What are your individual weaknesses? Lou tries to be superwoman, juggling family, work, clients and exercise. She is also sometimes too immersed in issues and crises and takes them home. Prue is juggling media commitments as well as her work here, so she sometimes needs to take a chill pill to put it all in perspective. How are these skills, strengths and weakness exploited in the partnerships? While we both love different roles and tasks so it is easy for us to work together. We also cover for each other and step in when one of us is drowning.
