Foerster Hired
And as a season ticket holder, I too am appalled at the 49ers new price structure and increase. Luckily, my seats weren't affected. But I am growing weary of this lousy team and the Yorks' audacity to raise prices AGAIN with the team being so bad. For those who don't know, the 49ers also charge their season ticket holders full price for the preseason games and you have to buy them. That's like paying full price for theater tickets, but being made to watch auditions or rehearsals instead of the real thing. Posted By: RednGoldBlooded | February 16 2008 at 10:03 AM .

Montoya's NASCAR success paves way for new drivers
Montoya had one of the best rookie seasons in recent NASCAR history in 2007. He won a race, ran strong in several others and finished 20th in the Cup standings better than most expected since he was making the difficult transition from open-wheel racing to stock cars. In short, he set a new benchmark for others to follow. There are plenty of followers, too. Fellow open-wheel stars Dario Franchitti, Sam Hornish Jr., Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier are making the same jump to NASCAR's top series this season. And they are hoping for similar results. "Juan ended up in the top 20 in points and was Rookie of the Year. If I could do that, that's plenty good for me," Hornish said. .
Man stabbed to death at birthday party
Police have charged one man and plan on arresting others in the stabbing death of a Lenoir man at a birthday party early Sunday, authorities said. Travis Renard Richardson, 37, of Lenoir was the first to be charged in the death of 36-year-old Cleveland Darrin Mitchell, who was stabbed in the chest when an argument broke out during the party, Lenoir police said. Richardson was charged with accessory after the fact of murder, accused of tampering with evidence related to the stabbing, police said. People at the party, being held at Richardson's home, had been drinking when at least two people got into a fight and Mitchell was stabbed, police said. He was taken to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Richardson was scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday and was being held at the Caldwell County jail on a $250,000 bond.
Screw caps call for some arm twisting
Any recipient suspecting you to be a cheapskate could always Google the bottle and get set straight pretty quickly. I'm glad everyone was happy in the end. But remember: All wine closures have their advantages and their faults, screw caps included. The big worry there is something called "reduction." An airtight seal can give wines a sulphury, barnyard smell. Screw caps remain a controversial choice for reds designed for long cellaring. So don't hold on to those bottles for too long. ----------- Do you have a wine or spirit question for Bill Daley? Write to him at the Chicago Tribune, 435 N. Somalia Media Conditions Deteriorate
At least nine journalists have been killed since February 2007 and death threats and arrests have forced at least 50 others to seek refuge in neighboring countries, Amnesty International said. "The killings, arrests and death threats targeting Somali journalists are not just another unfortunate byproduct of the conflict and general insecurity in Somalia — they are a deliberate and systematic attempt by all parties to the conflict to stem the flow of information out of the country," said Michelle Kagari, deputy director of Amnesty International's Africa Program. The attacks on media freedom mark a reversal from 2005 and 2006, when new media outlets began extending news coverage and affiliation beyond clan and warlord loyalties, the report said. On Sunday, Somali government soldiers raided three independent radio stations in the capital, Mogadishu.
